Safe Mobile Banking Tips

You can access EastWest Online or any other internet banking facility using smart phones or tablet devices with an internet browser just as you would if you were accessing it on a traditional computer. Remember these tips to secure your banking transactions when using mobile devices:

  • Password-protect your mobile phone or tablet.
  • Regularly update your phone or tablet’s software.
  • Install an up-to-date anti-virus software on your mobile device.
  • Delete transaction-related SMS messages containing your financial information.
  • Disable publicly broadcasting your network when using your phone or tablet as a mobile/wi-fi hotspot. Make sure to use password encryption.
  • Adjust phone/tablet settings so that your phone locks automatically when not in use.
  • Be cautious about storing sensitive/private information on your phone or tablet such as card numbers, passwords and account numbers. If you must do this, make sure that your mobile phone is password-protected, and contains up-to-date anti-virus software.
  • Be wary of clicking on links contained in a text message or email.
