Frequently Asked Questions

You can load your EastWest Visa Travel Money card in multiple currencies giving you the flexibility and the convenience you need when traveling. If at the point of purchase, you don’t have enough load in the local currency, your purchase will be converted and debited from the next currency wallet which has an available balance.

Scenario 1: You loaded US$1,500 and £1,000 into your EastWest Visa Travel Money for your US and London trips. You purchased an item worth US$150 while in the US. As such, your US Dollar load will be debited because of the transaction. Moving to London, you made purchases worth £550. The said transaction amount will automatically be debited from your British Pound load balance.

Scenario 2: After purchasing an item worth £550, your British Pound load balance is down to £450. You are going to make another payment of £550. Since you do not have enough British Pound in your card to cover the amount, the transaction will be converted to US$ at the prevailing rate. The corresponding amount will be debited from your US Dollar wallet.

Scenario 3: From London, you had a short trip to Abu Dhabi. While in Abu Dhabi, you can still make purchases or withdraw from ATMs even if you do not have Dirham loaded in your card. The amount will be debited from the currency in your card that has enough balance to cover the transaction when converted at the prevailing rate. The system will look for the currency wallet that can cover the transaction in this order – USD, EUR, HKD, GBP, AUD, JPY.

4. Your EastWest Visa Travel Money is loaded in real-time with the specific currency for immediate use outside the Philippines.

Sample loading and reloading transactions below demonstrate aggregation of loading limit to USD12,000:

Scenario 1: You have USD, HKD and JPY wallets in your EastWest Visa Travel Money card. On June 1, you requested loading of USD10,000 and HKD10,000. Both amounts will be loaded into your EastWest Visa Travel Money card as the aggregate USD equivalent of both currencies is only USD11,500 (using HKD1.00=USD 0.15).

Scenario 2: After loading a total amount of USD11,500, you request reloading of JPY100,000 on June 15. This time, you will not be allowed to reload the full amount. Instead, only JPY56,100 (or USD500 equivalent) can be reloaded into your card since you already reached the maximum loading limit of USD12,000 for the month of June ($11,500 + $500). You may reload additional funds in the following month.
