Zodiac readings and traditional misua are must-haves for any Chinese New Year celebration, and despite the pandemic, EastWest Priority clients got the full experience in the latest leg of the EastWest Priority lifestyle series.

The special Chinese New Year event, held via virtual conferencing last February 10, featured Feng Shui master Patrick Lim Fernandez and renowned chef and restaurateur Happy Ongpauco-Tiu sharing their respective expertise with Priority clients. Fernandez gave readings for each Chinese Zodiac sign, while Ongpauco-Tiu demonstrated how to make the traditional Chinese misua.

Among the various personal and business fortunes set aside for each Chinese Zodiac sign, Patrick emphasizes the importance of the traditional Chinese values of living a good life. “One must give selflessly and genuinely to help others, as well as undertake constant self-improvement by continuously learning throughout your life,” he said. The other values that go towards this are destiny, luck, and feng shui, or being in harmony with nature and one’s environment.

Meanwhile, Happy’s traditional Chinese longevity noodles, or misua, was a hit for its simplicity and authentic taste. Clients received a special package with serving ware from My Happy Home and the ingredients to prepare the dish along with Happy during the session. They then sent photos of the noodles they prepared at home, and the entries with the best plating were chosen to receive special prizes from EastWest.

“The Chinese New Year is always a momentous occasion, and we felt that we could not let it pass without continuing to give our Priority clients an unforgettable experience from us here at EastWest,” said Rafael S. Algarra, EastWest Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Treasury, Markets and Off-Balance Sheet Cluster. “This is their event as much as it is ours, as we want to thank them for their constant support.”

Patrick—who combines classical feng shui concepts and traditions with modern education—is a principal at the Yin & Yang Shop of Harmony. He has shared his feng shui expertise on various media outlets in the Philippines.

Happy is a well-regarded Filipino chef and restaurateur who owns the Happy Concept Group, which is known for popular restaurants Pamana, Tsokolateria, Bento Box, I Love Backyard BBQ in Boracay, Private Dining, and more.
