EastWest ranks #298 in Asian Banker’s 500 Strongest Banks 2021 list
Gotianun-led EastWest Bank has once again made it to global financial intelligence provider The Asian Banker’s 500 Strongest Banks in Asia Pacific 2021 list, ranking at #298. With this ranking, EastWest finds itself among the region’s well-established banks, and further cements its place as one of the strongest in the country.
EastWest making this year’s list follows the Bank’s reported results of a profitable year so far despite the inherent challenges presented by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Bank recorded a net income of P5.1 billion in the first three quarters of 2021, with return on equity at 11.7 percent.
The Asian Banker’s 500 Strongest Banks list is an evaluation of the top 500 commercial banks and financial holding companies in the region based on balance sheet strength for the 2020 financial year. The list evaluates the banks’ scale of their assets relative to GDP, balance sheet growth of net loans and deposits, their risk management, profitability, sustainability, strength and credibility of loans disbursed, and liquidity of assets in case of adverse events during the given time period.
In addition to ranking in the Strongest Banks in Asia Pacific list, EastWest also placed in Asian Banker’s 500 Largest Banks in Asia Pacific, which the Bank has accomplished for the past few years.
